Okay folks, let’s talk about JFW 2016 (OMG, I’m freaking love it). So this year, I actually got invitation JFW from my friend. He unfortunately couldn’t attend to some shows, and offered me his tickets, and I couldn’t get more excited. I was like a toddler that just got his first Christmas present. After all this time, I finally got a chance to see JFW in real life. I don’t give a damn whether it is VIP or RVSP ticket, it’s still a shining golden ticket for me. I don’t mind at all even if I’m just gonna stand in the corner, I still attending JFW 2016, btw.
So I met him at the coffee shop around Gandaria, his name is Edwin (Go check his blog here). We talked about fashion, lifestyle and everything. He opened up my eyes and explained to me as a writer I should be more neutral. You know that I’m always being judgmental bitch in reviewing JFW. He said that I can’t say ugly or that designer has a terrible design and taste just because I don’t like their collection. Every designer has their own market and specific taste on their collection to show their technique and identity. I’m as a writer and fashion enthusiast, should be more open minded about it. So when designer designing their collection, they make it based on their own market (and also seasonal trend to keep up to date). He explained to me that I can’t force my (good) taste to everyone, it’s like not everyone can pulled off Chanel couture dress (although it is so pretty and fairy). So in this year I will be nice and (put aside my stupid thought) be more neutral
But turned out that week, I had load of works. An event I needed to prepare and cover in the weekend. WHY ME LORD?!! I cried like a little bitch, sobbing and punching the wall. My golden ticket has burnt into ashes. There was nothing I can do about it, so I just went back to be in my room, watching update and JFW news in Youtube and DEWI magazine Instagram. So tonight, I will put aside my emotions and be nice. I will review 2 designers, TOTON and Patrick Owen. Although there were a lot of my favorites and good collections that I need to write about.
Okay first, TOTON. He is my favorite designer, and I don’t know where to start. His collections are amazing. TOTON shows a simple urban chic look, with the laser cutting technique he makes a simple and traditional pattern and elevate it to a new level. Only using a monochrome color, subtle flower embroidery to soften the look, and modern cutting, he makes a romantic collection this year. Job well done Mr. Toton (Go check his instagram here).

Okay move to Patrick Owen. So Patrick Owen’s collection are dominating with monochrome colors. I am really impressed with him, only using basic colors he can make a modern and strong look for a modern women. And also he got inspired from another Indonesian artist, a famous graphic designer/digital collagist Fajar P Domingo (go check his awesome artwork on his instagram here). Patrick applies his artwork through a beautiful embroidery on suit, a black sheer dress, and a black stocking. It totally makes a little ‘romantic splash’ on his collection. Really amazing and job well done (too) Mr. Patrick.

I’m sorry, I’m only reviewing them. There’re a lot of designers I need to write, like Major Minor Maha, SeanandSheila, the couturish glamour Sapto Djojokartiko and of course Tex Saverio. I hope my review this year is more improving than last year, more mature, and professional (neutral thought and put aside my stupid thought). And also I got a real works that need to be done in real life. Yup.
